Follow the shared touch points
- Reception counters and entrance hardware.
- Meeting tables and shared room controls.
- Kitchenette taps, handles and compatible appliance controls.
- Washroom touch points and shared storage handles.
- Cleared hot-desking surfaces, where included.
Electronics need their own instructions
A screen, keyboard or access reader is not the same as a desk surface. Equipment instructions and product compatibility guide what can be applied and how. Spraying a workstation is not automatically appropriate because its desk can be disinfected.
Identify sensitive equipment, confidential paperwork and belongings before the visit. Agree who moves them. A desk covered in documents limits accessible surfaces and may make the agreed work impossible.
Make the plan specific to your property.
Share the surfaces, access and circumstances so the right scope can be discussed.
Discuss office disinfectionPlan around people, not just floor area
| Consideration | What to discuss |
|---|---|
| Before treatment | Notify staff, clear surfaces and release rooms. |
| During the visit | Restrict access to treatment zones as instructed. |
| Before reopening | Confirm drying, ventilation and return restrictions. |
| Between visits | Maintain cleaning and review shared-surface priorities. |
How often is appropriate?
A busy shared office and a low-occupancy private suite need not follow the same schedule. Consider occupancy, equipment, cleaning arrangements and specific incidents or site policy. Review a recurring plan when those circumstances change.
Environmental disinfection is one part of workplace hygiene. It cannot guarantee that staff will not become ill or substitute for broader occupational-health measures.
